Doug & I went on a short five day cruise to the Bahamas. It was the perfect way for us to relax and get away. It was our first cruise vacation, so we were a little nervous. The Sovereign of the Seas proved to be a beautiful ship and we had fun in all the ports of call.

While we recognize that cruising isn't for everyone and we wouldn't want to go on a cruise for every vacation - it was a very nice break for us. No planning was involved and we did activities at our leisure. The food was great and the mojiotos were amazing!

We had a visit from our friends Holly & Justin - which is always fun for us. Unfortunately, Mizzou lost vs. Oklahoma, but we still had fun cheering.

My friends Brigette & Jaime met us in Asheville for a long weekend of mountain fun. The girls shopped, hiked, laughed and waved a lot. Doug went fishing and tried his best to avoid all the girlyness.

Since I met the Burgess family many years ago, I heard about the great camping trip to the Smoky Mountains when the boys were growing up. This summer, a second trip was scheduled and we met Steve, Connie and Chris in Tennessee for a great camping weekend. This was my first trip to the area, and it was beautiful - just as they had told me. We had one of the best campsites in the park, right along the river. Willie and Chubbs (cousins!) had fun wrestling and playing fetch in the water. We had great weather and great company - the most important thing for any camping trip.

We had a fun weekend with Willie, introducing him to swimming. He is a natural in the water - it just took him a few minutes until he was charging into the lake, chasing his tennis ball.
