Things are looking up for the Burgesses...

One of my favorite sayings. (i.e. Things are looking up for the Burgesses - I got a new job, we saved $5.00 at the grocery store, the dog didn't chew anything up today, etc.) It's very universal - feel free to use it with your own name.

But truly things are looking up for the Burgesses. First and foremost, our Tigers are in the Elite Eight! Such an exciting game last night!

And most importantly, Doug recently found out he is going to be Executive Chief Resident next year. I know he will do such a great job and I'm so proud of him!

We have a really fun few weeks coming up - anniversary trip to the beach, Doug flying home for a bachelor party and finally a weekend in the mountains with friends. Hope things are looking up for you and your family, too. Happy Friday!

Gardening

Last fall my husband surprised me by building me a vegetable garden on top of our hill. I'm so excited to get started gardening this spring. This weekend we did a lot of yard work, including putting up some fencing to keep the geese and dogs (okay, Willie) out of the garden.

I love the finished product - such a great gift from my hubby.

MIZ -

ZOU!!! So excited about the Tigers winning the Big 12 Championship!
We all watched the games in our black and gold- including Willie. He
was tired after the big win. Eventually, even Doug (who was post-call) needed a nap, too. I managed to get a quick picture of both of them snoozing on the couch.
Love the shirt...

Lions and Lambs

So the old saying is, March comes in like a Lion and leaves like a Lamb. Well, that was a perfect description of this week in NC. Monday our office was closed for a snow day. On Friday I sat in my office with the window open to the 75 degree weather. Love it!

On Monday - my snow lion, I mean dog

On Friday! Yes, my windows open. Perk #858 of my new job.

Thanks for the fun memories and a great weekend girls! I had so much fun seeing everyone. Thanks especially to April for driving up to KC in the storm to hang out and stay at my mom's house. (From the frantic run through Target to the ice hill - we didn't stop laughing! Thanks, A!) Also to Carrie for taking me out to lunch and to the airport on Sunday.

Such a fun weekend- can't wait till next time!
P.S. Pictures courtesy of Miss Katie Compardo, I forgot to take pictures- again! Thanks, Katie!

New Orleans - Post Cruise

We got off the ship early on Monday morning, so we checked back into our hotel. We were able to stow my mom's and Steve & Connie's bags and get back out to explore New Orleans. We took the Trolley through the Garden District to Audubon Park. We walked through this beautiful park - taking advantage of the sunshine and beautiful scenery. Grabbing the trolley back to the Quarter, we had a a great lunch before the family had to leave for the airport.

My cousin John met us downtown to hang out before his flight. Unfortunately, we hung out a little too long because he missed his flight. However, we had a great night out on Beale Street and got John to the airport in time the next morning. Such a great end to a great vacation. Can't wait till next time.
