Doug's brother Chris and his girlfriend Ashley came to visit us in Charleston a few weeks ago. Jordan was in heaven, lots of attention! We had so much fun with our visitors - beach fun, dining downtown and even dinner at Kiawah's Ocean Course. We love visitors - who's next???

Jordan - 3 Months!
Our baby is getting so big! What a fun month here in Charleston with our little girl. She continues to laugh and smile her way deeper into our hearts everyday. There is something so amazingly simple about babies. They need very few things - food, clean diapers, sleep and most importantly love. I continue to learn something everyday by being Jordan's mom and feel so lucky to spend my days with such a happy and healthy little person. She really got the hang of sleeping through the night this month - getting into the groove of sleeping 9-10 hours a night. Although, this past week, she has needed a little cuddle and/or pacifier in the middle of the night. Not sure how to get back into that great sleep pattern again. Something tells me that we would all sleep better if we moved her into her own room and crib, but it makes mom super sad for some reason.
Jordan's favorite things these days:
1. Lap standing- she actually just needs help balancing - she is already bearing most of the weight herself. Although- she doesn't have that much to bear - our little peanut is tipping the scales around 11.5 lbs.

3. Chewing on her hands (or other peoples hands- watch out!) It's my understanding that babies explore things with their mouth, which is why they put everything in there.

4. Herself - Jordan has found her favorite new playmate. She absolutely loves looking in the mirror. When she catches a glimpse, she gets the cutest expression - as if to say, "Oh, hi there! I've been looking for you! You are super cute today. Where do you shop for your onesies?"

Our little one continues to find her voice more and more everyday - this month we have started with consonants - every now and then you will catch a G or M sound along with all her vowel babbling. So much fun to hear her "talking".
Getting Jordan to laugh is even more fun this month. Dad usually does the best job - he is super funny. Music to our ears.

Labor Day
We had a wonderful 3 day weekend at our house. We enjoyed a great day at Sullivan's Island - which is quickly becoming our favorite beach. We had so much fun with the Moses family - and are excited that we have a few more weeks of beach season left to enjoy. Lil' J continues to be a beach baby - loves the water and usually naps well in the ocean breeze (don't we all!)

Dog Day Afternoon
Willie still gets lots of attention in our house (and loves that mom is home all day now) but he doesn't get as much blog time. This weekend, we took Willie to Dog Day afternoon at the County Park. After they shut down the water park for the summer, they let people bring their dogs in for one afternoon. Willie was in heaven, running around and swimming in the wave pool and lazy river. I have never seen so many dogs in one place. What a fun day for our fur baby.

What's in a Name?
Some of my loyal readers may remember this post - where we explained the meaning of Willie's name. I thought I should do the same for our new baby :)
When Doug and I first started talking about starting our family - we were at one of our favorite places in North Carolina - Jordan Lake. Doug said, "If we have a girl, let's name her Jordan." We spent so many weekends, evenings & days at the lake - camping, boating, hiking or swimming with Willie. We had enjoyed time there with friends and family. You may remember all of the posts about Jordan Lake that I have posted to the blog (they are here if you are interested!) It seemed so beautiful to name our baby after such a special place to us. Of course, that was long before we were pregnant or knew that Baby B would be a girl.
Once we did know that Baby B was a girl - we thought Marie was a perfect middle name. Marie was both my mom and my middle name. It is also Doug's grandma's name and his mom's middle name. We love the inclusion of so many of the wonderful women in our family.
So that's that. Jordan Marie Burgess. Big name - little person.

We love Fridays!
Jordan, Willie & I love fridays because dad comes home early and we have the entire weekend together. We hope you enjoy your holiday weekend.
Happy Friday!
Happy Friday!
A little bit of fun for this Friday - Jordan dancing to Sweet Pea by Amos Lee. One of my favorite CDs while I was pregnant with J - I think she remembers.

Life in Charleston
View out our back deck to the marshes during a high tide.
We are getting settled into our life in Charleston and getting accustomed to the differences in living down here. For example - here are some conversations that Doug & I have had recently:
Doug "There are crabs in the pool"
Katie "Again?"
Doug "I think I just saw an alligator out back"
Katie "Shut up!"
Doug "Don't worry, it was a small one"
Doug "What time is high tide today?"
Katie "I don't know - did you look out back?"
Katie "Do you want to go to the beach after dinner tonight?"
Doug "Sure, which one?"
Doug "Have you been watching the weather?"
Katie "Yeah, the hurricane. Are we going to need to evacuate?"
Doug "Maybe. Just in case, we should buy diapers."
So obviously a much different life but we are loving every minute of it. We did want to let everyone know that Hurricane Earl is going to bypass South Carolina, so we are safe. Jordan and I went to playgroup on Sullivan's Island Beach today and saw the big waves.
