Overdue & What to do?

Being overdue was probably the hardest part of my pregnancy. Normally, I don't think it would have been a huge deal, except we were moving to South Carolina soon after her due date. And everyday that I went over was one day closer to the move. Oh, and did I mention it was brutally hot? After our first trip to Labor & Delivery. Early labor at 40 Weeks.

So when you are 41 weeks pregnant - what do you do?

We taught Willie to catch a Frisbee. Which may not sound that amazing, except this is a dog who exclusively caught tennis balls. Getting him into a new genre was quite a feat.

We walked. Everywhere. We tried to think of new places that were inside to stay out of the heat. I can now say that I have walked every single aisle at Lowe's. It took hours.

We took Mom to Wilmington - one of our favorite places and had dinner at our favorite restaurant. We watched a Durham Bulls game.

At Wrightsville Beach near Wilmington - a fun day trip.

After the Bulls Game

We waited with anticipation. We waited one extra week. She was totally worth it.

Hit Bull, Win Steak

The famous Bull at the Durham ballpark - which reads "Hit Bull, Win Steak". Tuesday night when we went to the game, someone smacked a home run to left field which hit the bull! Nothing special really happened- such a disappointment.

Beer Fest

Doug & I went to Beer Fest last year and had such a great time, so we have been waiting all year for it to come around again. Our friend Justin came down from DC to join the party. We invited people over to carpool to the Bulls Stadium - it was a beautiful night for the festival. There is no way to try all the 300 beers that are there - but we tried a few good ones.

Olympics Bound

We had the opportunity to see the USA 2008 Olympic baseball team take on Canada, here in our very own backyard. The training complex for the team is here in the triangle - so they played several games at the Durham Bulls Stadium. It was so cool to see the team that will be representing our country in the summer Olympic games - in a just a few weeks. USA beat Canada and more importantly we had a great night with friends Staci & Matt.

Truly Burgess Central

Our house was truly Burgess Central this past weekend, when we hosted Doug's mom, grandmother, Aunt and cousin. Well, they are from that side of our family, though all of their last names aren't Burgess.

We picked up Connie & Marie from the airport on Friday afternoon and Kim & Drew met us at the house - we were a stop on their road trip. We went out to dinner on Friday night in Chapel Hill and visited. The family met Willie & he was on his best behavior.

Saturday morning, we started out with our favorite diner breakfast at Elmo's and then showed everyone around Duke - both the campus and the hospital. We then picked up BBQ for a late lunch and went to a Durham Bulls Game that evening.

Drew & Doug, doing the Bull horns

All the ladies- not quite as good at the horns...

Sunday was a slightly less busy day - we loaded up the SUV and went to Jordan Lake. Doug, Drew, Willie and I all played in the water - while the ladies enjoyed the breeze and beautiful views at the lake. We cooked a big family dinner that evening and celebrated a great visit. On Monday everyone left, leaving a very sad Willie with much less attention at our house.

Willie & Drew - ready to go swimming.

Willie playing fetch in the lake. He had so much fun.

Friday Night Bulls Game

On Friday night we were lucky enough to be invited to the Bulls Game by Maria & Justin. We had a beautiful night for baseball and Maria & Justin's tickets were in the FRONT ROW! The weather was a bit chilly but the rain held off and made for beautiful sunsets. We had a blast with fun friends -it was a great night.
While we were there we saw two local celebrities, John Edwards and Wool E. Bull (the Durham Bulls mascot). I guess you can see who I waited to get my picture taken with....

Bulls Game- Home Opener!

Our view from the cheap seats. Such a nice stadium, there are no bad seats.
View of the new famous Bull in left field.

Doug & I went to the Durham Bulls home opener with our friends Jason & Chad. Such a great night in Durham - beautiful weather. Wish the Bulls could have pulled out the win, but we had fun anyway. The $8 tickets are a bargain - they come with a free fireworks show. Can't beat that!
